Millsaps College Courses

Navigating and Negotiating an Etho-Education

Students will critically examine the role of power, race, gender, and conceptions of the subject have in shaping K-12 education in the United States.  Drawing on field experiences in K-12 school settings, students will utilize ethnographic practices to explore two complicated questions influencing the educative experience: What does it mean to become educated? And for whom?
